Welcome to 64th Portsmouth (St Swithun's) Beaver’s Webpage. Our Beaver Scout Colony caters for both boys and girls within the age range of 5¾ years to 8 years. We currently have a waiting list but if you would like to get in contact please do so by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.

At the 64th Beavers we have 4 teams that we call lodges. These lodges are named after animals; badgers, foxes, squirrels and rabbits. Each lodge is colour co-ordinated and can be told apart by the colour woggle they are wearing.

We try to establish a sense of responsibility in our older Beavers by making them lodge chiefs and lodge deputies. These can be told apart by wearing white and grey woggles as well as their colours. When a lodge chief is due to go up to cubs the lodge deputy will take over and a new deputy chosen.

All new Beaver Scouts attend Beavers for 4 weeks before getting invested. At the investiture ceremony the Beaver makes the Beaver Scout Promise and receives their neckerchief and group badges- it is usual for parents and friends to be invited to attend this event.

Beaver Scout Badges and Awards

Membership and Joining in Badges
The Membership and Joining-In Awards signify that a Beaver Scout has made their promise and has participated in the programme for a period of time. The Moving on Award is given to a Beaver as the start attending cubs. This badge is to go on their Cub uniform to show they were a Beaver.

Challenges
The Challenge Badges complement the balanced programme. These have been developed to extend Beaver Scouts’ skills and experience. There are 6 to earn. The Challenge Badges are optional and are usually completed as other badges and activities are completed.

Chief Scout's Bronze Award
This badge is the highest award available for Beaver Scouts. This badge is earned by completing all 6 challenge badges.
Activity and Staged Badges
There are 12 Activity Badges to collect, especially designed for Beaver Scouts. There are also 6 staged badges they can also earn. The staged badges can be continued throughout their time in Scouting.
Group Awards
Additionally there are three awards to be completed in association with other sections of the 64th Portsmouth.
